Mei Tais are Contagious
It is hard to resist the appeal of a Mei Tai. Baby can be worn comfortably on the front or back (even in a hip carry, if you are feeling adventurous). Baby’s weight is supported on both of your shoulders and there is less fabric than a wraparound. On the left, 8 month old baby Henry is riding on his mama Aubrey’s back in an EllaRoo, newborn Eleanor (center) is snug in her Kozy, and 5 month old baby boy is enjoying his ride in a MamaByDesign. If you have never tried a Mei Tai, you are in for a pleasant surprise.

Old Faithful (Kozy)
Ah, my good old Kozy Carrier. It is now being used on my fourth child. Talk about durable! Kelley from Kozy generously sent me this mei tai carrier when I was just starting to test carriers for my Babywearing book. I had not seen this style of carrier before, a rectangle of fabric with four straps. I was curious. At the time, I had an infant and a toddler. The very day I got my Kozy, I put my infant son in it in the front carry and this carrier has served me faithfully ever since. I reach for it daily. I love the design of this carrier, specifically the curved top. This top serves as a built in headrest for a sleeping baby. Click here for Kozy wearing instructions.
A mei tai gives good two shouldered support, with less fabric than a wraparound. My toddler enjoyed riding on my back, especially the one time our stroller got broken on the airplane and we were in one of those endless airports with two exhausted children. We just put the baby in a sling and I put my toddler on my back in the Kozy and off we went.
